Our Story
Our Story At Neqtar Medical, our story begins with a single, urgent question: Why are life-saving ambulances still so rare, unreliable, or imported at extreme cost across Africa?

What started as a deep frustration with the broken emergency response systems in many African countries quickly evolved into a mission — to rethink, redesign, and rebuild EMS from the ground up. With a team of healthcare innovators, engineers, and experienced entrepreneurs from both Africa and Europe, we founded Neqtar with one clear goal: To produce world-class ambulances, built in Africa, for Africa.

Neqtar was founded by leaders from Norway, Denmark, and Finland, and has since grown into a powerhouse of talent with 14 nationalities represented across the team. From senior engineers to med-tech developers, our people bring global expertise and a shared commitment to transforming emergency care in Africa.
Our design and development strategy is simple, yet deeply important:We build for Africa.
Every ambulance and EMS system is designed based on local data, in-depth research, and a deep understanding of the African terrain and realities — ensuring that our solutions are not only technically advanced, but also practical, reliable, and sustainable for the people we serve: the African people.

After two years of market research across Kenya, Uganda, and South Sudan, we confirmed what we already knew: there is an urgent need, an underserved market, and a growing willingness from both governments and private actors to invest in emergency medical infrastructure. What was missing was a trusted partner — a local manufacturer with global standards. That’s what Neqtar has become.
In 2025, we broke ground on Africa’s first next-generation ambulance production facility in Naivasha, Kenya — a 15,000 m² site that will house state-of-the-art manufacturing, training, and service operations. This facility will be the engine behind not just ambulance production, but also the rollout of advanced Emergency Medical Services, combining the latest technologies — including AI-supported decision systems, fleet management, and dispatch center solutions.
Behind us, we have a solid backbone in Europe: three production facilities and more than four decades of experience building high-quality ambulances that are used across multiple continents. That expertise is now being transferred, adapted, and scaled to serve the unique needs of Africa’s diverse regions and terrains. Today, Neqtar Systems is not just building ambulances. We’re building a future where every life matters — and every second counts.

Our Vision
To be the leading developer of world-class ambulances and emergency medical solutions in Africa.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Aligned with Neqtar Medical

Our Market
Africa is home to over 1.4 billion people — yet in most regions, emergency medical services (EMS) remain underdeveloped, underfunded, and underserved. In many countries, the ambulance-to-population ratio is critically low, response times are dangerously high, and access to care is limited by both distance and infrastructure. That’s where Neqtar comes in.

Across East Africa and beyond, governments and private actors are increasingly investing in healthcare infrastructure — with EMS emerging as a priority sector. We’ve already secured strategic partnerships and MOUs with counties, private providers, and suppliers ready to deploy our ambulances and systems.

Our market is not a niche. It’s a mission. And the need is not coming — it’s already here.
